High school: that means cars, prom and graduation. It also means college is right around the corner so Albertus Magnus High School prepped early this year and invited 22 colleges to come with information booths. Yesterday, students browsed through the broshures and asked the college representatives questions.
Some students had an idea of what they wanted to do, others were still undecisive and some were in the middle.
Senior Brenna Mackey and Junior Brianne Keahon were both browsing the booths.
"I still don't know (which college I'm going to). I'm keeping my options open," Mackey said. "I'm looking into computer science though."
"I have no clue," Keahon said. "I know what I don't want. I don't want to do medical."
Senior Darren Healy knew what he wanted to major in Criminal Justice and Law, but was still undecided on the school.
"I'm looking at Albany, STAC and Long Island University," he said. He chose this particular major because of family ties.
"My family's in it, my grandfather and my dad," Healy said.
Senior Andrew Festa was in a similar situation.
"I'm looking at Syracuse, U Mass and Buffalo. Those are the three main ones," he said. As for his field of study, "I'm still now really sure. Either Civil Engineering or Business. My dad owns a business and I see what he does everyday and I think I like doing that kind of thing."
Two juniors, Bridget Mena and Maggie Bifulco, shared similar criteria for picking out a school.
"I'm looking into anything with medical research or fashion," Mena said. "A lot of the colleges have cheerleading. Cazenovia has the most of what I'm looking for."
"I'm looking into pre-med," Bifulco said. "I'm looking at St. Bonaventure. I do cheerleading and they have cheerleading." Bifulco is also a junior EMT member at the Spring Hill Community Ambulance Corps in Spring Valley.
Whether the students knew what college and major they wanted or if they were still an open book, the consensus from all the students was that college fair day at AMHS was very informative and helped them out in different ways.
