On Sunday Oct. 28 right outside the current Hi-Tor facilities at 65 Fireman's Memorial Drive in Pomona a 3 Mile Race event will take place to raise money for the Rebuild Hi Tor effort that is a completely grass roots operation by the citizens of Rockland County to create a realistic and up to date standard of housing care for the stray and homeless animals of Rockland County.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. and participants are asked to arrive by 8:15 a.m. With County and town government coffers bare for the funding of the only animal shelter that Rockland County has, a grass roots fund raising effort known as Rebuild Hi-Tor has taken off in earnest.  Under the direction of volunteer fund raiser and local All State representative Don Franchino, local residents have started many events that will culminate in the completion of a new, state of the art Animal Shelter.

The current shelter is said to be on its last legs and that one heavy snowstorm could jeopardize the roof and create an unsafe environment not only for the animals sheltered there but for all the volunteers taking care of those animals. The 3-mile run has an entry fee of $35 which will 100 percent go towards the Rebuild effort and day to day operations to run Hi-Tor.

All pre-registered entrants will receive a t-shirt commemorating the event but Hi-Tor cannot guarantee availability of T-Shirts for those registering the day of the race.

To register go online at rebuildhitor.org or contact Peggy Rocci-Marzell at mvero50@aol.com.  Walkers are encouraged to participate as well.   If paying by check H-Tor asks that it be made out to Hi-Tor Animal Shelter 3 Miler.  Hi-Tor will have many volunteers along the race route and many more volunteers to bring out many of the adoptable dogs and cats as well as rabbits and other critters hosed that day.

Come have fun, run, walk and perhaps adopt a shelter pet and provide those 4-legged friends a good home.
