Rally for Israel TONIGHT, July 10, 7:30 PM, New City Courthouse
The Jewish Federation of Rockland County will hold a rally in support of the state of Israel, which in recent weeks has been a target of missile attacks fired by terrorists in Gaza. The rally will be held on the steps of the Rockland County Courthouse, 1 South Main Street, New City, NY on Thursday, July 10 at 7:30 PM.
More than 250 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza since June 12. On Monday, July 7, Israel launched Operation Protective Edge to intensify defensive efforts against Hamas and restore stability to the country.
According to Diane Sloyer, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Rockland County, "we support the government of Israel in its response to the indiscriminate attacks launched against its people. As long as Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza continue to target innocent Israelis, Israel must be able to do whatever is necessary to protect her citizens."
"Federation's role here in Rockland is to rally support and funding for Jews in need, wherever they live - at home, in Israel and worldwide," says Sloyer. "Tonight our role is to bring the community together in shared concern for our brothers and sisters in Israel."
A number of local Jewish leaders will speak at tonight's rally, and the public is encouraged to attend.
