Daisy Day: Crafts, Music & Fun Competiition

Daisy Day was March 16

Daisy Day this year welcomed five troops and about 55 kids for a day of fun while earning their "Be a Sister to every Girl Scout" petal and Daisy Day fun Patch.

"Some of their friends are in other troops, so today they get together and do fun activities with all the Daisies,” said Jen Morgan, leader of troop 40537

They played musical hoops, an obstacle course, egg and spoon races and other games, said Cathy Mannino, leader of troop 40430. Daisies are grades kindergarten and 1.

“Everyone is assigned to random color teams. It goes with the make a new friend theme,” said Mannino.

Dianna Diffley and Barbara Schmidt are leaders of troop 40381 (kindergarten). Diffley and Suzanne Hastings are leaders of troop 40421 (first grade).

When asked what his thoughts were of Daisy Day, father Chris Boyle said with a laugh, “Loud, but I love when my girls have fun. I have three girls.”

“I think it’s very well organized and they’re having a lot of fun too,” said bystander and mother Laura McEvoy. “I’m impressed at how well they (the troop leaders) are able to get their (the Daisies’) attention.”
