Monday: Non-Profits, A Film, A Kids Concert

The event is on Monday, Oct. 29 at the Nanuet Senior High School gym from 3:30 – 7 p.m. The film "A Small Act" will be shown at 7:30 p.m. for the adults and kids can stay entertained with the "Schoolhouse Rock" Concert

This is the last name change. Nanuet Cares started at Nanuet HS and then changed to JCC Cares after moving to JCC Rockland. However, this year, it's back at Nanuet HS with the new and permanent name of "Make a Difference Rockland."

Despite the name changes, the purpose has not changed. This event still brings dozens of non-profits together under one roof to allow the public to come and learn more about giving back to the community they live in.

The event is on Monday, Oct. 29 at the Nanuet Senior High School gym from 3:30 – 7 p.m.

This free public meet and greet event will have more than 50 non-profit organizations. Make a Difference Rockland provides the community with a chance to learn about non-profit programs and services, and membership, volunteer and donor opportunities.

To keep the message of this this event going, there will be a film presentation of "A Small Act" just next door at the Nanuet Library. Presented in cooperation with Friends of the Nanuet Library and in coordination with the annual event Make A Difference Rockland, this is a story about just how powerful a gesture of kindness and generosity can be, and that education is perhaps the most generous gift of all. The presentation is also co-sponsored by Rivertown Film

Introduced by Dennis Lynch, attorney and General Counsel to the Nyack-based Giving to Ghana Foundation. The 2010 is 88 minutes long and admission is free.

Don't worry, it's not just for the adults. There's also a family-friendly concert at the high school that same night at 7:30 p.m: Schoolhouse Rock! Bob Dorough will be performing as well as vocal performances from Nanuet students.

It's $10 a ticket and tickets can be purchased at the circulation desk of the Nanuet Public Library and also the Nanuet FRC Center. Proceeds will benefit both the Nanuet FRC and Friends of the Nanuet Public Library

"I would love for the whole community to come out and support this great cause. It'll be a fun night with a lot of volunteer opportunities to learn about," said RoseAnn Mercado of the Nanuet FRC.

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend

UW is by far the cheapest utility we have delivering clean water to my family for over 35 years. IRead More can live without cable which costs $160 a month but not without water at about $50 a month. Thank you Mr. Pointing.

Mr. Pointing, I appreciate your clearing this matter up. Too often the Water Company s cast as theRead More Villian by the Press and it is best to nip it in the bud with true facts.

I see your point isnt so much about what they are spending it on, but the process that they followedRead More to get to this point, but are they getting generators for the street lights on main street or the traffic signals? Seems like a project that is way out of control, who has gone to these community centers during storms anyway. All I have ever read about was people charging cell phones at the community centers. Good Job Pat.
