Most events were canceled or postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. Make a Difference Rockland was one of them. Originally scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, Sandy forced it to be postponed to Nov. 13.
Formerly JCC Cares, Make a Difference Rockland will be on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 3:30 – 7 p.m. at Nanuet High School.
The seventh annual event features dozens of local non-profit groups and other governmental agencies getting a chance to network with the public. Attendees can meet and mingle with representatives from the cultural, healthcare, arts, historical, academic, recreational and religious communities and learn about their membership, volunteer and donor opportunities.
This year two Nanuet Girl Scouts, Nanuet High School Juniors Katherine Filatov and Alyson Fintzy, are running the event to earn their Gold Award through their many hours volunteering with Make A Difference Rockland. Over the past few months, both scouts have spent countless hours updating the organizations database, preparing forms, writing letters, and graphic design for invitations and flyers. A website is also being created.
