School: Senior at Nanuet High School
Kevin Tsao is number one out of 144 students graduating from Nanuet High School's Class of 2012. He will be addressing his fellow classmates at the June 24th graduation ceremony as the Valedictorian.
Tsao fully immersed himself at Nanuet High School joining interesting clubs such as the Debate and Oration Club, Science Olympiads, Orchestra, Academic Club and Badminton Club. He also worked on the "Knight Times" which is the Nanuet High School newspaper.
He offered his talents to the community by volunteering at Nyack Hospital, the Music Marathon at the Palisades Mall, Keep Rockland Beautiful's Great American Clean Up and he helped rebuild Highview Playground.
Tsao had great success within these clubs and with his volunteer experiences. His leadership qualities, driven with a force to succeed, guided him to be the best in what he involves himself with. However, the bottom line is the his academic career is what led him to be awarded the title of Valedictorian.
Some of his academic achievements are:
* National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist and Commended Student
* Member of the National Honor Society
* Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society
* Foreign Language Honor Society
* Tri-M Music Honor Society.
"I have also won several medals in Science Olympiads building events, came in second for oration in Rockland County's Forensic League, and have passed seven out of eight of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Piano Exams. I have also completed up to all-state NYSSMA for Cello and level 6 NYSSMA for Piano. I am an AP Scholar and currently have taken a total of six AP Exams and seven AP level classes. I have taken the AP exams for AP Biology, AP European History, AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature, AP Calculus AB, and AP United States History. I took an AP level french course, Advanced French, online, but I did not take the AP exam," said Tsao.
So where does such a brilliant student go to from here? Tsao will be heading to NYU Stern School of Business in the fall to double major in Finance and International Business. Tsao was also accepted into Notre Dame in Indiana. But in the end NYU won out.

"NYU appealed to me because it had a strong finance program and is in the economic center of the world, New York. Also, NYU has a fantastic international abroad program which caught my interest because I wish to see the world and connect with other cultures during my educational experience."
As Nanuet High School bids farewell to the Class of 2012, Tsao will always treasure the memories made here.
"I'm always going to remember our Academic League Team winning the tournament and the season. Also, the memories of our French Class's trip to Quebec will always be with me," said Tsao.
Congratulations to you Kevin Tsao and best of luck with NYU. You have made your community very proud.
