"Because of the storm, People to People will start distributing food at 1 p.m. at the Nyack Center instead of 3 - 5 p.m," said Kim Cross of People to People. "It'll be for a few hours until supplies last."

Although many have power restored, there are still some in Rockland County that are not as fortunate, as well as many Rocklanders and families who are struggling to recuperate.
Last week, People to People did a call out for clothing, non-perishable food donations and volunteers.
"The response from Rockland County residents was great," said Diane Serratore, executive director of People to People. "We had an overwhelming amount of clothes that were donated. We do not need anymore clothing. We still need non-perishable food donations."
They'll be handing out Hurricane Sandy relief food donations for anyone that needs it from 3 - 5 p.m. on Nov. 7 at the Nyack Center.
"People to People is rallying to help provide emergency food to folks still without power," she said. She added that since there has been such a huge amount of volunteers showing up to help out, that People to People no longer needs volunteers.
People to People will need volunteers and donations for the upcoming Project Joy! that will begin soon.
Project Joy! is People to People's annual initiative to help ensure Rockland families in need get presents this holiday season. They fulfill holiday wishes of the county’s neediest children, those whose families are living at or below the poverty level after answering hundreds of letters. Now they need help from the community to answer these letters and help make other families’ dreams come true.
Also, one Patch reader said: "WCBS 880 is going to be at the Palisades Mall, by the Cheesecake Factory, (Tuesday) from 11a-4p to collect items for distribution. They need rakes, shovels, gloves, baby items, contractor garbage bags, hand warmers, and ANY personal care items."
