Barr 6th Grade Spring Concert Brings Culture to Nanuet

Barr Middle School 6th grade Spring Concert took place at 7:30 p.m. on May 24 at Nanuet Senior High School

Audience members were treated to a variety of wonderful pieces on May 24th at the Barr MS 6th grade spring concert.

Two of the groups that performed were awarded with gold medals from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA).

Every performance was professional and clean. The audience members were also extremely well behaved. Dr. Jack Gremli, Director of Music at NSD, insists on students sitting in the audience while their classmates play to learn proper theater ettiquite.

Every parent that Patch spoke to had nothing but the highest of praise for the Nanuet music program.

"I'm very pleased," said a mother of a vocalist. "They have a wonderful music program here and I'm very glad she's taking part."

Rob Cruze also has a daughter in the choir.

"It's very necessary," Cruze said. "With a lot of arts being taken, I'm glad this is still here."

"I think they're amazing," said Lisa Marchese. "It gives them a good artistic outlet. I love these concerts."

it amazes me that such talent is in Nanuet! I am so proud of our programs and the education and let's face it: DEDICATION that it takes to get all of these children to showcase their talents! a HUGE KUDOS to all of the musical department/staff at the Nanuet Middle School!

The secret to the Nanuet music program is ... the teachers. My direct experience is with Mr. Strain and Mr. Miller (Band and Jazz Band teachers) - they are simply dedicated to what they do and to our children. We are so very lucky indeed. Kudos to you!

Nanuet rocks in music, no doubt. The support from parents coupled by fine teachers make it a great place to learn music, which brings so much joy. Plus a good musician is also a good student!!
