A.C. Moore To Raise Money For Breast Cancer

Customers can also show their support by creating a Pink Ribbon Pin at the free Make & Take event on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1 - 3 p.m.

American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer campaign starts in October. To get a head start and to coincide with that campaign, is teaming up with associates and customers to raise Breast Cancer Awareness funds.

Their “Crafting a Better World” Program will run from Sept 9 - Oct. 13 and will benefit the American Cancer Society. Since its launch in 2010, the program has raised more than $900,000 for not-for-profit organizations that provide services in the communities in which A.C. Moore stores operate.

Customers can also show their support by creating a Pink Ribbon Pin at the free Make & Take event on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 1 - 3 p.m. Me & My Big Ideas® and American Crafts™ are donating supplies so adults and children can craft their support with glittery pink ribbon papers, pens and stickers. (Instructions on how to make these are attached to this article as a PDF)

“Last year, our stores collectively raised more than $123,000 in just a short period of time,” said Pepe Piperno, Chairman of the Board of A.C. Moore. “This year, we are hoping to surpass that amount. The American Cancer Society is an organization that has truly made a difference in the world of so many who have fought and are continuing to fight breast cancer.”

Making Strides is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation, uniting more than 270 communities to fund the fight. Making Strides walkers turn awareness into action by raising more than $60 million for the American Cancer Society each year to save lives from breast cancer. Funds raised help the American Cancer Society provide free resources and support to the 1 in 2 women newly diagnosed with breast cancer who turn to us for information and help, as well as support groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer.

"We appreciate the support of A.C. Moore for our efforts in the fight against breast cancer," said Roshini George, national vice president of health promotions for the American Cancer Society. "These funds will enable the Society to continue its progress against the disease by fighting for every birthday threatened by breast cancer in every community."

An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend

I see your point isnt so much about what they are spending it on, but the process that they followedRead More to get to this point, but are they getting generators for the street lights on main street or the traffic signals? Seems like a project that is way out of control, who has gone to these community centers during storms anyway. All I have ever read about was people charging cell phones at the community centers. Good Job Pat.
