Costco Smoked Salmon Recall in Effect

The Dutch company sold the fish in the Netherlands and around the world.

Smoked salmon sold in the United States at Costco has been recalled because of possible salmonella contamination, according to an article at Huffington Post.

Dutch company called Foppen said it only supplied the fish to CostCo Wholesale Corp. in the United States.

Huffington Post said Dutch public health officials found around 200 people who sickened in the Netherlands by a strain of the bacteria called Salmonella Thompson.

The Centers for Disease Control have recorded 85 cases of the strain in 27 states starting dating back to July 1.

A Costco representative said the smoked salmon under the Foppen and store brand Kirkland has been pulled from shelves and that any product brought to the registers will not scan. Customers who bought the fish will be called to alert them of the recall. There will also be a followup letter.

In the lower Hudson Valley, there are Costco warehouse stores in New Rochelle, Nanuet, Port Chester and Yonkers.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
