"Do It For Mom" And Cancer Society Fundraisers

Iron Fist Athletics is holding two fundraisers on Mother's Day

 

Iron Fist Athletics (IFA) plans two in-house competitions when it holds its CrossFit grand opening on Mothers Day, Sunday, May 12th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. IFA is holding the "Do it for Mom"  and American Cancer Society fundraisers at its Nanuet location. 

The first 30 people who have prior CrossFit experience and sign up will be eligible to partipate. IFA membership is not required. To sign up, email ironfistathletics@gmail.com or stop by 149 Main Street. There is a $20 registration fee to compete with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

Additional donations will be accepted. Winners of the competition will receive prizes and spectators are invited to cheer on the competitors and enjoy refreshments. Competition details will be announced at the event.

Visitors can tour the meet the owners, Saro and Naz Spenjian, learn about CrossFit and the upcoming 30-day Paleo Challenge. The Paelo diet is favored by CrossFitters to help get in optimal shape and lead a healthier lifestyle by eating vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, meats and fish and eliminating sugars, grains and processed foods.

The winner of the challenge will receive a $100 credit towards their membership. IFA members will get nutritional counseling during the challenge to help make the lifestyle change.

“At IFA, we want to make sure our members are getting the best results. This comes with supporting them on healthy meal choices and motivating them during their workouts,” said Saro. 

IFA offers classes on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. as well as a free intro class. Classes vary from CrossFit, Strength and Fundamental courses. CrossFit's fitness regimen includes Olympic lifting, gymnastics, weightlifting, bodyweight exercises, Kettlebells, rings, climbing rope and much more.
