Nanuet Chamber of Commerce Marks Its One Year Anniversary

The Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce plans a “One Year Anniversary Celebration Dinner and Salute to their Founding Members” on Tuesday, Sept. 10th. The dinner will take place at Jimmy’s on Main at 149 Main Street in Nanuet from 7 to 9 p.m. A discount is available to members and non-members who sign up in advance at www.nanuetchamber.com. Three members, who register in advance, will be selected at random to receive a three-minute spotlight for their business at the event.

Additionally, the Chamber announced the creation of two scholarships to be presented to Nanuet High School seniors beginning with the 2014 graduating class. Information will be posted on the website and in February applications will be accepted.

The chamber, which currently has 78 members, also just released its programming schedule for the 2013 – 2014 year, which includes special monthly activities.

The events begin in October with “A Taste of Nanuet” featuring area restaurants and promotions followed by a Halloween Parade and prize giveaway at Monster Mini Golf on Route 304 on Sunday, Oct. 27. A “Mini Nanuet Business Expo” is planned for Wednesday, Nov. 13 and on Tuesday, Dec. 17 Growler & Gill will host a holiday party.

The Chamber starts off the New Year on Wednesday, Jan. 15 with a breakfast discussion on “What can Clarkstown do for Me?” The “Let's Get Physical Health Fair” is planned for Tuesday, Feb. 11 and an art and culture event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12. On Tuesday, April 8 business roundtables dealing with social media, finances and employee issues will take place. A street fair is in the planning for May and on Tuesday, June 17, the annual meeting & networking program will be held.

The Chamber has set four specific goals for the next 12 months.

They include: working closely with the Town of Clarkstown on the rezoning of the downtown area and beautifying and improving Main Street in conjunction with The Shops at Nanuet opening in October; hosting a Main Street Fair as well as a joint business networking event; continuing the long range committee study of relocating the train station to the new mall to make it more conducive for bringing people to the area for shopping plus hosting cultural and health related events and activities 

New members can sign up online and view the meeting schedule. The membership fee for businesses is $125 and $25 for residents. Anyone can attend the monthly meetings.
