The Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce, Inc. officially came into being in mid-July when the by laws were approved. The interim board is in place and now the paperwork is done. The chamber is now incorporated, has a bank account and can start accepting members.

Several months ago, a few members of the community brought up the idea of revitalizing the Nanuet Chamber of Commerce. After a few public meetings, things moved forward with the selection of an interim board, selection of the mission statement and drafting of the by laws. At the bottom of this article is a look at the Nanuet Chamber of Commerce's journey thus far.

Here are your interim members of the chamber

  • President: Timothy Chhim, owner of the AllState Insurance building on Main Street in Nanuet
  • Vice President: Roy Giampicolo, Rusco of Rockland and a Nanuet Rotarian
  • Treasurer: Clem Yeboah, president of ATAX Accounting & Financial Services
  • Secretary: Susan Farese, Nanuet resident
  • Assistant Secretary: Nicholas Miller, Nanuet resident and carpenter

“The board has been hard at work over the summer getting paperwork in order and ensuring that we start out with a strong organization. We are now incorporated as the Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce,” said Risa Hoag, of Nanuet and GMG Public Relations. “Founding membership is only available through December and includes advertising on our website. We are planning a kickoff event for early October and will be telling everyone about the details shortly. Thank you all for your participation and patience as we get this organization off the ground. Look for our website coming soon!”

The name ‘Nanuet Chamber of Commerce’ already existed as a non-active corporation, so the name 'Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce' was used.

Next Steps

The logo and identification marks for Chamber are being worked on. The Website URL has been secured and the design of the site will begin soon.

There will be a Grand Event to Launch the Chamber and planning for this event is in progress.  A location and date will be provided as soon as possible.

There is a Membership Drive that’s currently going on.

“This is the time for members to stand up and be counted,” said Yeboah. “This is the time to fill out application for membership and pay dues to be considered a founding member. This is the time to volunteer to join a committee of the Chamber.”

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
