The Ragdoll. The Boomerang. Those are just two of several hairstyles and hair techniques local salon owners and stylists picked up from Monday night's class at Nanuet's .
Jason Fitzmaurice, owner of Head People Salon, received a class from Sexy Hair after buying a shipment of their products at a hair show in White Plains.
Known for its "big red can," Sexy Hair is one of the fastest growing beauty care companies in the industry, offering hair care products, educational programs and haircut collections, according to its website. Their motto is "Bold. Edgy. Trend-Setting. That’s Sexy Hair."
Steve Melito, master artist of Sexy Hair, led the class on Monday night.
"It's a whole new technique he's teaching," said Fitzmaurice. "Most are salon owners here tonight from New City and Pomona. They can bring these techniques back with them and teach their stylists. I hope to do these classes monthly."
Sarah Vollmart of Head People was an instrumental part in organizing the event. Several people volunteered their hair for the class, including sisters Ruth and Rebecca Jozwiak.
"My mom gets her haircuts here (at Head People) and she said they needed hair models for the class," said Ruth Jozwiak, who got the ragdoll haircut. "I love it. I'm excited. It's so different, fun and fresh."
