O&R: Nor'easter Brings Additional Outages

Orange & Rockland continues to work on restoration of power to those who lost it during Hurricane Sandy along with new outages from Wednesday's snow and wind. UPDATED with dry ice distribution.

Update at 10 a.m.

Orange & Rockland wil distribute dry ice at Rockland Lake State Parkin Congers from noon to 2 p.m. today. They will also give it out at two locations in Bergen County, the Franklin Lakes Fire House at 1 Bender Court in Franklin Lakes, NJ from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and the Bergen Office of Emergency Management at 286 Campgaw Road in Mahwah, NJ from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.


The nor'easter brought snow, wind and more power outages to Rockland County Wednesday.

Orange & Rockland reported an additional 1,200 customers in its entire distribution area were without power as of 5 a.m. Thursday morning due to the nor'easter, while 7,300 remain without electricity from Hurricane Sandy, including 3,400 in Rockland County. The utility company still projects that most of those will have their power back by Saturday.

O&R is warning snow plow operators to watch for downed wires. Rather than try to forcefully clear them along with snow, operators should stop and all O&R at 1-877-434-4100.

to the editor..on laurel road between bewery and rt 304 is a tree with major damage at the bottom of it and it is leaning on a power wire...if you are coming from brewery it is on the right side up the hill.....it looks dangerous..I dont understand why no one is doing anything...please advise someone on maple ave about it...before it takes down the wires..for we they get paid on maple ave let them work for their pay

Are you kidding me? They have been working and I am so THANKFUL .
I just passed the crews working on the damaged tree!!!!!!!amazing......so while the sparacos get paid the 75,000 a year part time we the citizens work for free BUT we can sleep at night knowing we have helped others....
