Palisades Center Announces Makeover

Palisades Center announced a major renovation to take place by the end of 2013.

Palisades Center in West Nyack will be taking on a new look in the coming months.

The mall announced a major renovation of the interior and exterior of the mall Friday, stating that they hope to complete work by the end of 2013.

"We want our 24 million annual vistors to be happier than ever," said Palisades Center Director of Marketing Leemarie Dell'Acchio.

The plan includes completely remade entrances, ceilings, floors, tiling and lighting. The color and texture themes will be changed, as will the restrooms. There will be soft seating areas designed for comfort with WiFi available.

According to a release from Dell'Acchio, "The 4-story center court structure will be remodeled using a warmer paint scheme, glass handrails, and architectural lighting elements. The already unique ThEATery level will be transformed to look stunning and sophisticated with the tile floors and chandelier fixtures."

Palisades Center began a live virtual press conference at 11 a.m. Friday at www.twitter.com/palisadescntr. Though they are not releasing an exact dollar amount, the project is expected to cost "tens of millions of dollars." They are not planning to close any stores or restaurants while during the work.

And FYI, a burger at 5 Guys is more like $6.

I can't believe I read all these comments and no one mentioned my pet peeve. Let the Palisades Mall learn how to get all the escalators to run at the same time before they try to do aesthetic improvements. I have never been there when there was not at least one escalator or two not operating. Someone told me they do that to save on the maintenance costs of the escalators. I believe they're cheap enough to just want to save on their electric bill.

Jody The Nanuet mall always had escalators always broken. I am sure its in their plans to fix escalators The mall is already 15 years old. Sometimes kids push the off button it dosent always mean they are not working. People are all talk and love tp spread rumors

No rumors. Every time I go to the Palisades Mall, the same escalators are turned off on the same days. Some people are all about criticizing the person, particularly when the facts do not support their point of view.

Rex doesn't know what he's talking about or is an obvious mall shill. The escalators shut themselves off at least 90% of the time due to comb impacts, step upthrusts, handrail inlet guard collisions, etc. You should be more worried that the security guards are the ones tasked with turning them back on. Do you trust that the security guards are trained in escalator troubleshooting? Because it looks like they just turn them off and on again whenever they shut down.
