REDC Announces Free September Program For Businesses

The Rockland Economic Development Corporation’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (REDC’s PTAC) announced a free program for businesses on September 12th dealing with Disaster Preparedness & Recovery Services. Participants will find out how to prepare for emergencies and be considered as vendors for disaster relief projects.

During the session, co-hosted by Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R), attendees will learn what steps to take during and after a disaster. Jill Asch of ConEd will discuss health and safety plan training and PTAC Program Manager Liz Kallen will speak about required government registrations. Village of Nyack Administrator Jim Politi, Rockland County Office of Fire & Emergency Services Program Coordinator, Chris Jensen, Rockland County Purchasing Director Paul Brennan and Ed Verbraak of O&R Emergency Management will share their insights during a panel discussion.

VirtuIT Systems President Michael Murphy will discuss how to prepare company infrastructure in order to conduct business during a disaster. Topics will include: business continuity planning, communications plan, communication access, remote Internet access, computer backup, and a functionality plan.

The program will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Orange and Rockland’s offices at 390 West Route 59 in Spring Valley.

PTAC is a nationwide program that works with small businesses actively pursuing and getting business for at least one year. It is a resource for small businesses seeking to market and sell their products and/or services to government agencies including the U.S. Department of Defense, federal, state and local governments and their prime contractors.
