Those driving past the former Nanuet Mall site can see progress. If you haven't, Nanuet Patch has a every Friday updating readers on its demolition process.

Owner Simon Property Group is planning knocking down everything (other than Sears and Macy's, who own their respective buildings) and in its place will be the Shops at Nanuet

"Simon Property Group's vice president of project management was on site yesterday (Tuesday) and said in an e-mail to me that he was very happy with the progress," said Les Morris, Director of Public Relations of Simon Property Group. "Our demolition efforts are on schedule and we have not lost a single day due to weather."

Morris added that sitework is ongoing, on schedule and will continue through mid-2013. Foundations are being started on one portion of the site while demolition is ongoing at another part of the site.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
