Smashburger Is Coming To Nanuet

Smashburger’s first Rockland County location opens in Nanuet on August 14th.  Jim Denburg, the franchise owner, said he is in the process of hiring 35 team members for the restaurant in the Shoparama shopping center on eastbound Route 59.   

Denburg of New City expects patrons will notice a difference from the standard burger.

“It’s really fresh great quality food,” he said on Wednesday. “It’s different from fast food, everything is made to order.”

Denburg, who owns a Smashburger in Brooklyn, said he looked at numerous properties in Rockland and decided the 2,500-square-foot site now being built out had good visibility, plenty of parking and easy access. Construction started in early June. 

“I thought for Rockland that would be the best location,” he explained. “It just caught my eye.” 

Smashburger is holding a pre-grand opening and VIP reception for government officials, donors and friends of United Hospice of Rockland on Tuesday, Aug. 13.  The invitation only events from 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will include complimentary food and guest donations accepted on behalf of United Hospice. 

Smashburger will be open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Denburg said when patrons place their order they have the option of eating in or taking out. The goal is to prepare each order in about six minutes. Smashburger will have 70 seats with servers delivering food orders to the tables.

“About 70 percent of our customers dine in and 30 percent take out,” he said.

For those who have been to other Smashburger locations, Denburg said the Nanuet restaurant will have a new interior look with earth tones and a more open kitchen. 

Denburg is no stranger to franchises he has been in the business for 20 years and previously owned 11 Domino’s Pizza locations in New York and New Jersey.

Denver-based Smashburger is a six-year-old international chain with more than 200. Its signature menu item is described as a handcrafted burger that is smashed, seared and seasoned to order, using fresh, never frozen 100 percent Certified Angus Beef®.”

Other menu items include Smashfries, hand mixed milk shakes, salads, black bean veggie burgers, hotdogs, grilled chicken sandwiches and beer.

Smashburger is joining other burger chains in Nanuet. Five Guys Burgers And Fries is located further east on Route 59, Zinburger will be opening at The Shops At Nanuet and there are numerous fast food outlets.
