Willow Tree Yoga in Bardonia is hosting workshops for those with ADHD to support ADHD Awareness Week, which runs from Oct. 14-21.

On Sunday, Oct. 14, there will be two free workshops “Yoga Skills for ADHD”

  • for ages 16 through adults from 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
  • For Middle and High school students in Grades 6 and Up from 1 - 2:15 p.m.

“I think it could be so useful for people with ADHD to learn some skills through yoga that can help them deal with their everyday challenges as they go through life,” said Beatrice Mattaway, E-RYT 500, Yoga Teacher & Owner of Willow Tree Yoga.

Leading the workshops is Christina Young, a nationally certified counselor, coach, and yoga teacher. As a personal coach for the Hallowell Center, she specializes in helping adolescents and adults with ADHD improve organizational skills, motivation, and performance while increasing self-esteem and confidence.

“Many adolescents and adults with ADHD are perceptive, kinesthetic learners. The practice of yoga teaches skills that strengthen organization, time/self management, and motivation,” said Mattaway.

Young has ten years of experience teaching yoga to adolescents and adults in studio classes, private lessons, and at workshops at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA.
