While worrying about turkey, stuffing, football and a variety of other things, it seems quite easy to overlook which wine to bring to your Thanksgiving get-together. Luckily, there are plenty of local options for picking up liquor with helpful people behind the counter in each.

This store in the Pathmark shopping center is stocked full of all different kinds of liquor coming from all over the world. If looking for something to bring to a Thanksgiving dinner, though, Mike Costanzo and Damian Costanzo, who work at the store, suggested a few different red and white wines.
For red wine, they suggested Shiraz from Australia, Zinfandel from California, which Mike Costanzo said has some nice spice and pepper, or Pinot Noir, which they said was light and would get well with the big meal.
For white whines, they suggested Riesling, Viognier or Chardonnay.
They also stock a number of other non-wine liquors, and said cranberry vodka is a popular one this time of year. Two ports they suggested are Deco Chocolate Port and Blueberry Port from Long Island.

“It’s a very flexible holiday in terms of wine,” she said. “We’d suggest some from the southeast of France, Rome Valley and Zinfandel, which all-American and will go well with all the trimmings and turkey.”
She said said a lot of dessert wines are good for the holiday, like a sparkling Barbera or Sangue di Giuda.
“Those can cut through the heaviness of the meal,” Ossman said. “It can cleanse the pallet clears room for more food.”
Ossman said that really a bunch of different wines will go well with the meal and offered just one piece of advice.
“Just don’t go too big with the wine,” she said.
