Empty shops fill the majority of the Nanuet Mall and after years of rumors and planning, its owners, the Simon Property Group, has finally brought site plans to Clarkstown.
At an informational meeting with Clarkstown on Oct. 26, Simon presented their plans for "The Shops at Nanuet" and went through the site plans with artist renderings of what it could possibly look like from the street level. The Shops at Nanuet has an outdoor 'Main Street' concept with a gourmet grocery store, fitness/health club and movie theater.
Since that was an informational meeting, Simon answered questions from the planning board, but no questions were taken from the public. Questions from the public will be entertained at tonight's meeting since it's a public hearing.
At tonight's Clarkstown Planning Board 7:30 meeting, the planning board will review Simon's plans, its demolition and Banchetto Feast's move from inside the mall to a stand-along building along Middletown Road. The agenda is attached to this article.
There will also be an informal presentation from Simon to the Clarkstown Town Board at 7 p.m. at town hall as well. This will be in the Andrew Jackson room at town hall with no questions from the public due to time constraints.

Also on the agenda tonight, the planning board will also review the New City Gardens in which a new parking lane and stormwater management basin is proposed. This will be discussed at 7 p.m.
