Rain Forces Early End to New City Street Fair

The second New City Street Fair this year is Sept. 2

Sunday’s New City Street Fair started at 10 a.m. and three hours later almost all 140-plus vendors were either packed up and gone, or packing up to leave.

While the fair was scheduled to go until 5 p.m., rain ended the day early. There is no makeup date scheduled, but this year the fair expanded to twice a year, so there will be another street fair Sept. 2.

Even with the forecast calling for rain, including a for Sunday into Monday, New City Chamber of Commerce President Steve Weissblatt said that all vendors that signed up for the fair attended on Sunday.

Before the rain took over the event, people enjoyed the food, games, music and merchandise available from local vendors.

I would like to thank all the Vendors and fairgoers that came to Main Street of New City today to participate in The New City Chamber of Commerce Street Fair. I would also like to thank the CPD and Town of Clarkstown for doing a great job. I would be remiss to not thank the 29 Sponsors who contributed to the event as well. Unfortunately there can't be a rain date due to Vendors being booked week to week in advance. This is why no street fairs have rain dates. Our next event is scheduled for September 2, 2012. Each consecutive Street Fair will be bigger and better than the last. For more information go to www.newcitychamber.com. The Vendors came, the people came and so did Mother Nature. Thank you Steve Weissblatt President, NCCC advance.

Unfortunately we can't control the weather, but despite the rain, people came and seemed to really enjoy the Street Fair. Besides the CPD and Town of Clarkstown, Steve and the New City Chamber did a great job. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Despite the rainy weather, The New City Street Fair sponsored by The New City Chamber of Commerce went off without a glitch. Thanks ever so much to the Clarkstown Police Department, the Town of Clarkstown, and the County of Rockland who proved to be integral in helping the StreetFair get off the ground. I totally look forward to our next fair on September 2nd. Kudos to those vendors who came out to participate despite Mother Nature's desire to rain on us! Thanks! Despite the rain showers, there were lots of smiling faces at Sunday's street fair.
