There are always so many activities and fun things for kids to do, but they're usually for the older ones. Fortunately, toddlers got a chance to have fun for a good cause over the weekend.
On Saturday, had a Spring Fling fundraiser to benefit the Child Care Resources of Rockland (CCRR), which was hosted with Girl Scout troop 40230. Kids Kingdom offers programs, day care and is also a nursery for kids ages 2 to Pre-K. They have three core services:
- Help parents find quality child care through references
- Help providers and train them
- Advocate for child care issues
“This event’s been fantastic,” said Jane Brown, executive director at Kids Kingdom. “We’re thrilled (about the girl scouts). The girl scouts have been amazing.”
“I just like to see the girl scouts interacting. It’s great,” said mother Diane Nikac.
The girl scouts helped out in different shifts throughout the day. The event ran from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
“We feel good. It’s an honor to work with (the kids),” said Girl Scout Megan Nolan. “I like working with kids and we like to see them smile.”
The girl scouts helped out in different stations: Face Painting, Recyclable Art, Snack Room and the Kingdom Area.
“It’s crazy, (the kids) they’re all screaming but having a lot of fun,” said Girl Scout Nicole Baccaglini.
The big event of the day was Burr Johnson, a musical and interactive entertainer for kids.
"I'm here to help support this event. I do children's music both entertaining and educational," Johnson said. "I am happy to help out in any way I can."
Johnson engaged the kids and had them laughing, talking and singing. He kept them captivated with the odd and funny sounds he could create.
Parents also enjoyed themselves watching their kids have fun.
“It’s pretty good. The kids like it a lot,” said father Andre Tingling of the event.
“It’s a safe place. I feel comfortable just standing back and letting them do their thing,” said Christina Reyes, mother of a 4 and 10 year old. “They seem to be having a really good time.”
“The kids seem to be enjoying it and it’s for a good cause,” said mother Camille Stewart.
Kids Kingdom also offers summer camps and private birthday parties.
