Obitary: John W. Karol, 75

Nanuet resident John W. Karol, who worked for Johnson Controls until his retirement in 2001, passed away on June 21 at Nyack Hospital at age 75.

He was born on May 2 in the Bronx, to John and Helen (Simka) Karol, where he graduated from Dewitt Clinton High School. He earned an Associate Degree from City University of New York and served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1968, eventually attaining the rank of Private.

Karol is survived by his son, John D. Karol of Nanuet; brother, Daniel T. Carroll of Eatontown, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wives, Claire and Patricia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church in Nanuet on Tuesday. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Visiting is Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. in Pearl River.
