Preparing For Thanksgiving – What’s Open & Closed

Nanuet schools close early on Wednesday, government offices, including the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center, remain open the whole day and close Thursday and Friday. Know of something that's closed? Tell us in the Comments Section.


Here is a summary of what is open and what is closed during the next three days.  

The Nanuet School District is closed all day Thursday and Friday. 

The Nanuet Library closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and is closed Thursday and Friday. It reopens at its regular time of 10 a.m. on Saturday. 

Rockland County government offices are closed on Thanksgiving Day and open for regular hours on Friday. The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at Provident Bank Park in Pomona will be closed Thursday and Friday.  It will reopen on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Clarkstown Town Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday. There will not be any garbage or recycling collection in the town or any Mini Trans service on Thursday.  Both services will resume on Friday.

Clarkstown Highway Department crews will not work on Thanksgiving, however, on Friday they will return to collecting yard waste and debris from Hurricane Sandy and continue working through the weekend.  

Public transportation services will operate on revised schedules during the Thanksgiving holiday.
