UHR Seeks Swimmers to Participate in 4th Annual Swim for Hospice

United Hospice of Rockland (UHR) is seeking individuals to jump in and swim to raise money to support our mission. Swimmers of all ages are welcome to participate. Swimmers may swim ½ mile, 1 mile or form relay teams. Teams of friends and family may join as a group, in honor or in memory of a loved one, or just for fun. Each swimmer receives a T-shirt and a towel. Showers and changing facilities are available at Germonds Pool and light refreshments will be provided.

UHR will benefit from the 4th annual Swim for Hospice, hosted by the Town of Clarkstown at Germonds Park Pool, 185 Germonds Road, West Nyack on Sunday July 13, 2014 starting at 7:00 AM. The swim is sponsored by Swim Across America and the event supports UHR’s mission and the Fight Against Cancer. Check-in starts at 7:00 AM and swimmers are taken on a first come, first served basis. For additional information visit: http://hospiceofrockland.org/news-events/events/swim-hospice or contact UHR Director of Development Lanie Etkind, letkind@hospiceofrockland.org or 845-634-4974.

Swim Across America, Inc., [SAA] is dedicated and committed to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention, and treatment through swimming-related events. With the support of hundreds of volunteers countrywide and past and current Olympians, SAA is helping to find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach, and direct service. Swim Across America began as a grassroots organization with events developing organically. Now, these events raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, and money raised is still given to local beneficiaries, which happen to be some of the greatest in the world. SAA has expanded nationwide and brings events to the entire country, from coast to coast. The SAA community is comprised of swimmers, parents, sons and daughters, teachers, friends, coaches, and the well-meaning. Many of the most devoted supporters are not swimmers, but still honor family and friends by donating, volunteering, or helping to raise money to make a difference.
