Keep Rockland Beautiful hosts Annual Awards Gala

Keep Rockland Beautiful’s Annual Awards Gala at the end of October was a great success. 170 attendees filled Rockland Country Club to capacity. Many were there to cheer on the honorees: Northeastern Landscape & Lawncare, Environmental Construction (Beautification Award); PDI (Business Sponsor Award); Steven Moetzinger, Alex Guarino (Cleanup Leader Award); and Margie Turrin (Education Award). Others donated their time and musical talent, including The Richard Sussman Trio and pianist Alec Lauterbach. Event sponsors Mercedes-Benz of Nanuet, Teplitz, Tilcon, Carter Wealth Management and numerous Journal advertisers made the evening possible. 

Eye Spy…Recyclables
In the spirit of the Keep Rockland Beautiful mission, the decorative centerpieces were made completely of recyclables. People were challenged to a game of “Eye Spy” to identify the recycled items that made up the beautiful bouquet.  (Can you? See attached pdf for the solution!)

The centerpieces were assembled by a small army of supporters in Haverstraw and New City, including a crew of young women from Clarkstown South High Schools who also volunteered their time during the evening’s festivities (and came adorned with flowers made of recyclables!).

Attendees received a Keepsake Journal from the event along with a reusable tote for taking along lunch. Net proceeds from the Journal, the raffle/silent auction and ticket sales will flow directly into KRB’s programs to educate young people, motivate volunteers, and bring together community partners in making Rockland a cleaner, greener place.
