Scholarships to be presented
The Rockland County Volunteer Firemen’s Association/Stuart L. Gates Scholarships will be awarded at 8 p.m., Friday, July 13, at the monthly meeting of the RCVFA at the Hillcrest firehouse, Route 45 near Eckerson Road.
For the first time, four scholarships will be awarded: Two scholarships, $1,500 each, and two at $1,000 each, will be awarded to graduating high school seniors.
To be eligible, their fathers or grandfathers must be RCVFA members. Scholarship chairman James Hartwick, of the Nyack FD, will make the presentations along with the scholarships’ namesake, Stuart L. Gates, a volunteer with the Stony Point FD, and scholarship committee member John Coyle IV of the New City FD.
