Charities Benefit From Theater And Restaurant Opening

Local non-profits are reaping the benefits of new businesses opening at The Shops At Nanuet.

Regal Nanuet Stadium 12 & RPX raised $20,546 during its preview events this week and donated it to local non-profit groups. Zinburger Wine & Burger Bar will donate 15 percent of proceeds to charity during its three-day grand opening next week.

Meals on Wheels, People to People Food Panty and the Committee to Promote Volunteerism in Rockland County Emergency Services benefited from the three days of preview events at Regal Nanuet Stadium 12 & RPX. More than 4,700 moviegoers bought discounted movie tickets and snacks with proceeds going to the community organizations.

Meals on Wheels of Nanuet received $5,976; the People to People Food Pantry of Rockland County in Nanuet received $5,108 and the Committee to Promote Volunteerism in Rockland County Volunteer Emergency Services received a $9,462 donation.

“We are so thankful for the community’s excitement and response to this theater’s grand opening all while benefiting very deserving local charity organizations,” said Jewel Gallagher, northern marketing manager for Regal Entertainment Group.

Starting on Tuesday, Nov. 12, Zinburger will donate 15 percent of its sales over the course of three days to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County. Zinburger, an upscale burger restaurant offering gourmet burgers, serves made-to-order gourmet burgers, hand-dipped shakes and floats, pies and 23 wine varieties.

“We are pleased to bring Zinburger’s brand of gourmet burgers, salads, sides, shakes, desserts, and a carefully crafted selection of wine to Rockland County,” said Brad Honigfeld, chief executive officer of The Briad Group, a licensee for Zinburger.

The theatre in The Shops At Nanuet officially opened Thursday with “Thor: The Dark World.” Movie fans can join the Regal Crown Club visit online at www.REGmovies.com or at the theatre to accumulate credits at the box office and concession stand to earn free popcorn, soft drinks and movies.
