Obituary: William Thomas Kremer, 83

Nanuet resident William Thomas Kremer passed away on Aug. 3. He was 83-years-old. He was one of Thomas Kremer and Elizabeth Kremer nee Wurtz’s 13 children.

He earned two purple hearts as a paratrooper during the Korean War. Kremer, who loved his country, served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1959. He married his wife Adele Lucille Impastato, known as “Momma Bear.” 

“Even through his struggle the focus was about his wife and her well-being,” his obituary reads. “They were married for 56 year and the love that he had for her remained just as passionate as the day they were married. He truly loved her.”

He was known for his gentle nature and being an amazing storyteller. Kremer, a man of faith who survived the church and member of the Teamster Union, also ran the Suffern Distributors after his service.

He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Ushers Society, St. Anthony’s Parish Players, Rockland County Players, and St. Anthony’s Church. Kremer is remember for doing impressions to entertain family, singing, acting and his love of music.

Upon his retirement he started ABK Catering with his wife and later drive a bus for the Department of Mental Health in Pomona.

His wife; children William G. Kremer and Kristine Buonanno; and his five grandchildren survive him.

Visiting is on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 2 pm. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home. The mass of Christian burial is on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church, 36 W. Nyack Rd. followed by an internment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
