Visiting Hours are April 29 for Faye Vuozzo

Philomena (Faye) Vuozzo a long time resident of Pearl River, New City and Nanuet, New York passed away peacefully at Ramapo Manor on April 24, 2014 at the age of 92. Born on March 17, 1922 in New York City, she was the oldest daughter of Salvatore and Antonetta Coscenza Discepolo.

On May 12, 1946 she married Gaetano Vuozzo at the Immaculate Conception Church in Astoria, NY. They were married for 64 years until Gaetano’s passing on July 29, 2010.

Faye and Gaetano owned and operated Suburban Jewelers in both Nyack and Pearl River, NY, growing it from a small watchmaking shop to a successful Jewelry business. They retired in 1992.

As well as her husband and parents, Faye was predeceased by her sister Frances Wickman.

She will be greatly missed by her children Sallie Ann (Liam) O’Kane and Michael (Kim) Vuozzo, her sister Louise Discepolo, her 6 grandchildren; Brittany Vuozzo, Natasha Vuozzo, Hannah Vuozzo, Mona O’Kane (Jim McKee), Jessica O’Kane (Jamie Fraser), Liam (Llanya) O’Kane and 6 great-grandchildren, as well as her brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Faye was an exceptional cook; she loved to host large Sunday family gatherings enjoying time with her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid canasta player as well as an active member of the Rotary Ann’s in the Pearl River Rotary Club, in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #329 and in the Nanuet II Senior Citizen’s club.

Visitation will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home in West Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10am at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet. Interment will follow at the Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead.
