Albertus Magnus Tennis Team Hosts "Falcons Ace the Cure" Fundraiser

The Girls Varsity tennis team of Albertus Magnus High School hosted the first annual "Falcons Ace the Cure" doubles tennis tournament on Saturday, October 19, 2013 to raise money for breast cancer .

The team played against members of last year's boys' tennis team in this post-season fundraising event which mimicked the Billie Jean King-Bobby Riggs 1973 "Battle of the Sexes" match-up.

Pink balloon arrangements, donated by Elegant Balloons, added to the festive atmosphere.   And all players sported bright pink "Falcons Ace the Cure" t-shirts. Some players added pink wrist bands and socks to complete their pink attire in support of the cause that is especially dear to them. Some mothers of the players have battled breast cancer.

Raffles for prizes and baked goods, donated by team parents, were sold along with a 50-50. The girls also held a bake sale the previous day during school lunch periods.

The team has a fundraising site and would appreciate your donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  This organization was chosen especially because a whopping 91% of money received goes directly to research, prevention, and awareness.

Thank you for your generous support!
