Poll: Best Pizza in Nanuet and Pearl River

Nominate your favorite places for our informal showdown

Correction: The second phase of voting to narrow down the top six picks will be based on the comments section and the poll will be the tie breaker.

The border rivalry goes way back between Nanuet and Pearl River. There are a lot of good pizza places in both towns and Pearl River Patch editor Ryan Buncher and I want to know which one you think is the top pick among the non-chain places.

Here's how it works:

Vote in the Poll and explain your vote in the comments section below. We'll take these until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, we'll post the top six picks and a poll. Post your vote in the comment section and vote in the poll as well. In the event of a tie in comments, the poll results will be used as a tie breaker. We'll take votes until 5 p.m. on Friday, and the winner will be announced on Monday morning.

We encourage you to share this contest on your Twitter or Facebook feed, especially if you're pulling for a certain restaurant.

Vote for your favorite place in the survey below and don't forget to click on the links below and rate the store on the Patch Place Listing. You can even leave a review.

Please let us know why you think your choice is the best. So without further ado, here are the places seeking your nominees!

Nanuet

Pearl River

So.... what happened to that place in pearl river that was dealing drugs? are they in this poll? maybe that is why people keep going back!! :)
tom kelty February 22, 2012 at 01:23 am
Francos ....the best selection...every day all day.... white..smoked mozzarella.. chk bbq, veggie... mushroom, sausage, no cheese basil and garlic.... grandmas...and more!! good burgers too!
Kim Tran (Editor) February 22, 2012 at 03:39 am
Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. Final results will be based on comments and poll voting Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

Shame on those who have 'hijack' what should have been a local friendly community poll for there own personal gain. I for one will be avoiding these restaurants in future.
Marly M February 22, 2012 at 12:30 pm
As one of the owners of M & M I have no control over what people do. For those who don't know M & M stands for Marly & Matt please read the wonderful article the Patch did when we opened our store last year. Maybe instead of a poll online we should do a blind taste test competition! Have a great day everyone :o)
Pat February 22, 2012 at 01:04 pm
Check out the history of the posters that commented on M&M. They are all "first timers" and finally added to the Patch conversation on this topic. What a sham and those that participated in it should be ashamed of themselves.
Linda G. February 22, 2012 at 01:37 pm
It's pretty funny....I NEVER, NEVER see anyone at M&M's......are you THAT desperate for votes?????
Watchdog February 22, 2012 at 02:01 pm
Interesting that we get 40 comments on Pizza and very few comments from readers on the columns, blogs and opinion pieces, like the one today on New City Patch by Michael Hull. These are the issues that really affect us and BTW. I love pizza.
Scott Duplessis February 22, 2012 at 02:49 pm
All are good, but Posa Posa is the best.
Christine February 22, 2012 at 03:12 pm
I don't think anything is wrong with a business advertising and taking pride in their restaurant. M&M has amazing food whether or not they win this local poll or not. The chef is very talented and caters to his customer's wants and needs. Chicken parm wrap is by far my favorite.
eight4five February 22, 2012 at 03:12 pm
Raffaele's & M&M? Uhh, I don't think so. Anyone who's lived in Pearl River for more then 20 years knows that hands down, Pizza City & Fordham are the best. These newbies with their gluten free stuff and whole wheat mumbo jumbo come and go. A trained chef @ M&M to make pizza? Your playing yourself guy. Liz from Pizza City had been pumping out slices to the community for almost 30 years. Fordham, even longer! These fly by night places need to take a lesson!
Scott Walters February 22, 2012 at 03:35 pm
Nanuet Restaurant is the go to place for pizza for my family....even if other 'chain' places are trying to undersut on price.
Jessica February 22, 2012 at 03:46 pm
I love M&Ms. The pizza is absolutely delicious, the salads & wraps are amazing. The staff is super friendly and they will make everything to your liking.
Mary Gordon February 22, 2012 at 03:47 pm
Wasn't this supposed to be a friendly poll about voting for your favorite pizza in Pearl River and Nanuet? Why all the comments about "first timers" on the Patch and hijacking and orchestrating the votes...shame on everyone that can't simply give their opinion on their favorite pizza store in the two towns and stick to that.
Pat February 22, 2012 at 04:34 pm
Mary Gordon has made 3 comments in 9 months on the patch, 2 of them in the last 2 days and coincidentally, ALL are raves about m&m. Keeping stuffing the ballot box hon, I'm sure people will flock to the place you're obviously are associated with.
Tell Morris Maybrunch and Mary Kennedy I said hello.

Gluten free is not mumbo jumbo. It is for people with celiac disease. Pies On makes them for a song at 8 and change. Milano about 12 bucks. As for regular Pizza, Pizza City is the best in PR. Stella Lunna in Orangeburg is best around in my book. Fordham was very good at one time but the premises needs to be updated a bit. Too much of a hang out for the hoodie sweatshirt crowd.
Jaclyn P February 22, 2012 at 06:08 pm
My vote is for M & M's. I have ate M & M's pizza along with many other pizza places in the area. I enjoy their atmosphere. The staff is friendly.
People have way too much time on their hands to say mean things. Yes, their newcomers however, go just once and see what everyone is buzzing about!
Amanda P. February 22, 2012 at 06:25 pm
I'm a first time commenter, though frequent reader of the Patch. As a Rockland native, I've been to most of these places. I used to go to Posa Posa when I was younger, but the food is truly mediocre, and it can get pretty loud, if I remember correctly. My father and I would get pizza at Martio's all the time. And up until M&M opened, they would have definitely gotten my vote.
But, older doesn't mean better, and M&M really stepped up the competition. M&M (aka Marly and Matt) definitely have the best food, staff, and atmosphere. Their menu is unbeatable (and yes, having a qualified chef helps when you're talking about preparing any sort of food). I usually get either the BBQ chicken (which is very difficult to find when you're looking for good quality) or some variety of a grilled chicken wrap. Their wraps are great - when I'm looking for a healthy alternative, they always have the perfect thing. Plus, emailed coupons and great sales? I don't get that anywhere else. I've never had a bad experience there - not with food, staff, or cleanliness (which I sometimes notice at other places). All in all, if you haven't tried it yet (which I'm sure the naysayers haven't), I highly recommend it. Five stars, M&M!
Walt February 22, 2012 at 06:48 pm
M&M? No way, it's just a half step above Domino's. There is definitely something fishy in the mozzarella about this poll with that ghost town getting 1/3 of the vote.
Best thin crust would be the Hotel. Best NYC slice around here would be Martio's. I agree with the poster about Fordham, that place needs a face lift and attitude change. Fix the front door already!
Michael Foley February 22, 2012 at 07:03 pm
Wait a minute, this is a simple poll of which pizza shop you like the best. I am having trouble understanding why a lot of people are taking time out of their day to write something negative towards someone that is trying to make a living for their family. I have personally enjoyed M&M's pizza and of course everyone has their own opinion.
I can only imagine how sad the lives are of the adults that take the time to sit and come up with negativity towards another pizza shop. You guys honestly have nothing better to do with your lives? sad. I have never met Matt and Marly, but I have tried their pizza and the pizza is what this "poll" is about. Please don't be like an immature mean girl sitting on your computer all day. Be productive and move on.
Pat February 22, 2012 at 07:24 pm
Likewise Michael, I can't imagine individuals wasting so much time and stuffing the ballot box about ones pizza preference but then again, I guess people think they're being productive by doing so.
Oh and by the way, I noticed this is also your first post. Welcome to the Patch.
Christine Jeranio February 22, 2012 at 07:47 pm
HAHAHA....I almost spit my coffee out! Marly dear, I see you have MANY alter egos on the Patch. You are one creative girl :)
Don February 22, 2012 at 09:19 pm
I wish as many people paid attention to voting on Election Day as they are doing with a poll about bread, cheese, and sauce.
Laura Rogers February 22, 2012 at 10:17 pm
They are not in Pearl River or Nanuet...but I think Calabria makes a gluten free pizza
Gil Griffith February 23, 2012 at 05:07 am
If only the candidates were as good, honest and consistent as some of these pizzas!
Scott February 24, 2012 at 05:25 am
Posa Posa has the best pizza. The Nanuet Restaurant used to be good but it is not as consistent anymore.
Gary April 19, 2012 at 09:35 pm
Nanuet Hotel makes the most incredible tasting pizza in the entire Hudson but easily in Rockland!
You can get any topping and they taste great and they know how do do a "crispy" and "extra crispy" and "well done" to your requested perfection! You cant get that anywhere else.

Aerial view of proposed United Water treatment plant
John Taggart June 13, 2013 at 08:15 am
An issues conference will be a wast of time and money. So many ' issues ' have been pulled out ofRead More thin air. The people who organized against the plant will just keep saying the same thing. No amount of info will be enough, no answer will be accepted. The issues conference will be a circus of endless questions, ideas, and demands. Haverstraw bay reclassified as drinking water will better protect it, provide an endless supply of water and finally help end the stereotype of the Hudson being polluted Recommend
Paul Williams June 15, 2013 at 09:26 am
UW is by far the cheapest utility we have delivering clean water to my family for over 35 years. IRead More can live without cable which costs $160 a month but not without water at about $50 a month. Thank you Mr. Pointing.
Paul Williams June 16, 2013 at 12:35 pm
Mr. Pointing, I appreciate your clearing this matter up. Too often the Water Company s cast as theRead More Villian by the Press and it is best to nip it in the bud with true facts.
Stacee Jaxx June 17, 2013 at 03:48 pm
I see your point isnt so much about what they are spending it on, but the process that they followedRead More to get to this point, but are they getting generators for the street lights on main street or the traffic signals? Seems like a project that is way out of control, who has gone to these community centers during storms anyway. All I have ever read about was people charging cell phones at the community centers. Good Job Pat.
