From a Patch Reader: as a resident of Nanuet, we try and keep as local as posible. We go to Premier Gym, shop at Stop and shop, nails by Loki at Nail Fetish ,which just relocated to the heart of Main Street. Whenever we need to buy something or need service of some sort, the first places we go to and the first people we contact are usually from Nanuet first.

We like to spend money locally to help our local businesses. They give jobs, spend money, and support the community. This is how capitalism works. The county government has just decided to raise our taxes! So we will have less money to spend. And, with our Sales Tax going up, we must compete with cheaper New Jersey. That's where, for instance, most of us already fill our gas tanks.

We have a lot of great stores, both large & small. for shopping, dining, fast food and service in Nanuet, which are too many to mention. We like to stay in the area because in most cases, the prices are reasonable and parking & access to the stores are so much easier than heading down to that huge mall in the next town. However, my favorite supermarket remains Shop Rite in "the friendly town of" Pearl River
