Armed Robber Ties Up 2 Hotel Staffers, Steals Safe, Cash, Computer and Purse

Police are searching for the suspect.

Clarkstown police are searching for the man who robbed the Hilton Garden on Route 59 in Nanuet nine hours ago.

Police say the man forced two employees into a back room at gunpoint and fastened zip ties around their wrists and ankles. He then pried a safe out of the wall and left with it, a computer, the purse of one of the women he tied up, and about $400 from the front desk.

Here's the full text of the department's statement:

On June 13, 2014 at 1:59 AM, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 270 W. Rt. 59, the Hilton Garden Inn, in Nanuet, for a report of an armed robbery. The 2 female victims, both hotel employees, said that a male entered the hotel and asked for a room. The male then displayed a gray semi automatic pistol and had the employees go into a back office. He proceeded to zip tie the victims' hands and feet. The suspect was able to flee the scene with a small safe that he pried off the wall, a desktop computer and the purse of one of the victims. The victims believe the suspect was able to take approximately $400 from the front desk. The contents of the safe are unknown as of this release. 
 
The suspect is described as a black male, 6’ feet tall, between 30-35 years of age, wearing a skull cap, gray sweat suit, blue jeans, black boots and had a scar on his face. He fled the scene in an unknown direction.
