Clarkstown Police Searching For Suspect In Two Reported Child Sex Abuse Incidents

Clarkstown Police are searching for a suspect allegedly involved in two sex abuse cases involving young girls at the Palisades Center in late December.  Police released photos of the suspect who is accused of approaching the girls in separate incidents at the Barnes & Noble and Bed, Bath & Beyond stores.

In the December 26 late afternoon incident, the 10-year-girl was sitting on a bench in Barnes & Noble’s children’s section when the suspect allegedly approached her from behind and performed a lewd act near her. The girl’s mother was shopping nearby. On December 21, a similar incident occurred to an eight-year-old girl in Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni said, “The suspect appears to be a Caucasian or Hispanic male in his late 20s, over 200 pounds, with a full beard and mustache.  He was wearing all black with a large imprinted area on the front of his shirt, and a baseball cap backwards.”

Fratianni said the man may have left the mall in the passenger seat of a light green or similar colored van with out of state plates.  Anyone with information about either incident or who recognizes the person in the photos is asked to call the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 1-877-639-6233.
