(UPDATE) Five Home Burglaries Within Week In New City, Nanuet

Clarkstown police chief says homes on different streets were broken into during the late afternoon and early evening

Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan said five private homes were burglarized during the past week in New City and Nanuet. He said the break-ins took place at homes on Fenner Lane, Wilton Circle and Lafayette Drive in New City, South Middletown Road and Rinne Road in Nanuet.

Sullivan told the town board on Tuesday that the burglar or burglars got into three of the homes through windows. He said small items were taken.  An earlier police report stated jewelry and cash had been stolen.

Sullivan said a safe was taken from the Lafayette Drive home but did not disclose its contents.  He noted that the burglary occurred through a rear window that was forced open. Sullivan said the home did not have an alarm.

“We believe this was a much more professional job,” he said.

The Lafayette Drive break-in happened after dusk sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. while the other homes were broken into during the late afternoon. Sullivan said it is possible that homeowners returning may have interrupted the burglaries.

He repeated earlier police requests for Clarkstown residents to report anything suspicious in their neighborhoods and pointed out that burglars do drive high-end luxury cars that may appear to belong in the area. Anyone with information about the burglaries should contact the Clarkstown Police Department at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 1-877-639-6233.

Some of the burglarized homes are near main roads such as South Middletown Road, Calvary Drive, Bardonia Road and Brewery Road.

LOVES NC....Here is the problem with that. When we go to the meetings Gromack says he does not want to talk about the Police salaries and other items of concern about the Police. If you were there, you would know this. PATCH is providing a valuable service and citizen taxpayers are utilizing it to educate and inform.

Can you stop about the notion that burglars are targeting houses of gun owners? I know some of these idiots are stupid, but do you really think they are that dumb? That is almost saying they are targeting houses with alarms.
