UPDATE: Suspicious Man in Van Was a Plumber at the Wrong Address

UPDATE: Police investigating a report of a suspicious incident concluded the man was a contractor who went to the wrong address, according to the Nyack Free Press.

Orangetown police are investigating a report of a suspicious incident which occurred March 17 on Edward Street in Sparkill.

According to police, a 14-year-old girl walking home from her bus stop saw a white van following her. The van followed her to her house and into the driveway. The girl locked herself in the house. The driver, described as an older white man with gray hair, in a black sweatshirt and sunglasses,  got out and knocked on the door. The girl remained locked in and called her parents.

The van may have green and blue lettering on the side and an extended roof, police said.

If you witnessed the incident or may have information about it, please call Orangetown police detectives at 845-359-2121.

The Nanuet school district sent a letter to parents. Superintendent Mark McNeill included a link to the police press release in the note.

OPD announced yesterday the van driver was a plunber at the wrong address. Excellent, timely reporting as usual. LOL.

Hey, Shawn, the police report was issued Monday afternoon, I wrote about it Tuesday morning, and as prthinker says, above, it was resolved by Tuesday afternoon. The reporting was timely.

Well...Actually OPD released the resolution notification before 2, I believe, because PRSD's circulation of the update was sent to the community before 3p. The email Patch sent to our emails this morning had the unresolved Monday story as its subject line and its lead story belies the timeliness assertion. Even the JN had it right by midnight yesterday, but they have a whole team covering Rockland and Westchester, while it seems Ms Taliaferro is holding down the fort and covering the same geography on her own.

Well prthinker, I agree with some of your points, though not all. And I shouldn't have responded defensively.
