Orangetown police are investigating a report of a suspicious incident which occurred March 17 on Edward Street in Sparkill.

According to police, a 14-year-old girl walking home from her bus stop saw a white van following her. The van followed her to her house and into the driveway. The girl locked herself in the house. The driver, described as an older white man with gray hair, in a black sweatshirt and sunglasses,  got out and knocked on the door. The girl remained locked in and called her parents.

The van may have green and blue lettering on the side and an extended roof, police said.

If you witnessed the incident or may have information about it, please call Orangetown police detectives at 845-359-2121.

The Nanuet school district sent a letter to parents. Superintendent Mark McNeill included a link to the police press release in the note.
