Police: Hikers, Stay out of Harriman Backcountry During Homicide Search

Park police have also closed the Beaver Pond Campground indefinitely.

Hikers are warned away from the backcountry of Harriman State Park as police from several jurisdictions continue searching for Eugene Palmer, suspected of shooting his daughter-in-law.

Tammy Palmer, a Haverstraw mother of two, was found dead behind her home Monday.

Palmer, a retired park ranger, apparently abandoned his car and disappeared into the park afterward. CBSlocal.com reports police are using dogs to search the large recreation area, which is located in Rockland and Orange Counties.

By entering the park all you would be doing is making the police job harder and less safe, give them a hand and stay out.

My heart goes out to Terry Palmer, and her children. First she's abused by her husband, and then murdered by his father. Nice people! Our society needs to crack down on spousal abuse, because this is what it can lead to. Poor Terry, RIP....
