Kerry Kennedy Trucker Takes Plea Deal

Rocco Scuiletti, a Dutchess County resident, pleads guilty to disobeying a traffic device.

The truck driver who was involved in a July vehicle collision with Kerry Kennedy in the Armonk area has accepted a plea bargain, North Castle Justice Court confirmed.

Rocco Scuiletti pleaded guilty to a count of disobeying a traffic device. It will leave two points on his driver's license and he was ordered to pay a $130 fine. The deal was accepted with the Westchester County District Attorney's office.

Scuiletti was originally charged with leaving the scene of the accident, a non-criminal violation.

Previously, it appeared that Scuiletti would be heading to trial.

Kerry Kennedy, a Bedford resident who faces an impaired driving charge, has her next court date on Jan. 15 at 5 p.m., according to justice court, an adjournment from a previously planned date of Dec. 4. This summer, she tested positive for a form of Ambien, a sleeping medication, in connection with the July 13 incident on Interstate 684.

North Castle Police reported that she said she may have taken sleeping medication mistakenly, instead of thyroid medication. Initially, Kennedy believed that a seizure may have been linked, based on her consulting doctors in the aftermath. However, when she learned of the drug test results, Kennedy said in a statement "it now appears that my first instinct was correct."
