More than 1,000 people attended a wake for , the 9-year-old Atlanta boy whose fight against cancer inspired Nanuet volunteer firefighters so much that they made him an honorary member of the fire department.
Harold Straut, chairman of the 's board of commissioners, said a wake Friday had long lines of mourners to say farewell to Patrick. A funeral service was today in Atlanta.
Straut is one of who went to Atlanta to represent the fire department and show support for Patrick's family.
Patrick died Monday, on his 9th birthday, at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. He suffered from neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer.
