Nanuet Homeowner Suffers Smoke Inhalation From Fire

Robert Annesi, 50, of 105 Freedman Avenue in Nanuet was treated at Nyack Hospital this afternoon for smoke inhalation after a fire at his home. Clarkstown Police said Annesi attempted to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. Nanuet Fire Department Chief Chris Koester said the fire reported at 1:37 p.m. was extinguished within 10 to 15 minutes by the first truck on the scene and confined to a second floor master bedroom.

Police reported when officers arrived they found heavy smoke inside and the three occupants out of the house. Koester said there was smoke and water damage to the house. He said there were no other injuries.

The Clarkstown Fire Inspector was at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious. The Pearl River, West Nyack and Spring Valley fire departments also responded.
