Nanuet Man Charged with DWI in Nyack

Police: Patrol car was nearly hit by car driven by Nanuet resident.

A Nanuet man has been charged with drunken driving in Nyack after he almost hit a police car that was part of a search for a group involved in a fight in the downtown area, according to Orangetown Police.

The driver, Jeffrey Colin, 25, of 12 Clark Drive, Nanuet, was found to be bleeding from the face, but would not tell police what happened to him.

Police said town officers were checking the area of Main and Bridge streets in downtown Nyack at about 2:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a fight taking place. In their search, town officers drove onto Artopee Way, where Colin was in a car.

Colin, police said, nearly struck a town police car has he backed out of a parking area onto Artopee Way at an unsafe speed. Police said they stopped Colin and found him to be intoxicated and bleeding from the face.

Colin refused to answer questions about his injury and he refused medical attention, police said. He was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg and was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

He was later released pending a March 5 hearing in Nyack Village Court.

It's a good thing Nyack has so many bars open until 4am, othewise where would people from Nanuet and other areas go to fight and get drunk! We provide such a needed public service for the rest of the county!
