Nanuet Man Gets 2 Years In Prison For Role In Robbery

Victim was chased, surrounded by a group and robbed.

Elysee Jeff Cayo, 21, of 8 Lynn St., Nanuet, has been sentenced to two years in state prison for taking part in a 2010 robbery in Spring Valley.

Cayo pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted robbery and was sentenced by Acting State Supreme Court Judge William K. Nelson.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe said that on Oct. 9, 2010, at about 4 a.m., Cayo took part in an attack in which the victim was chased and surrounded near Memorial Park in the Village of Spring Valley. One of the attackers in the group had a gun and demanded money.

A phone and a wallet containing a debit card was stolen, and the victim was forced to provide his pin number while one of the attackers went to an ATM and retrieved money.

Cayo was also ordered to serve 1½ years probation after his release from prison.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
