Clarkstown Police have identified the woman struck and killed by a car on Wednesday night as Krystyna Izbinska, 64, of Nanuet. Police report Izbinska was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. She hit as she was walking on New Clarkstown Road in Nanuet near the intersection with Meadow Lane just before 6 p.m. Clarkstown Police Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni identified the driver of the vehicle as Jayne Blechman, 55, of New City, who was driving south on New Clarkstown Road when the fatal accident occurred.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. No summonses have been issued. New Clarkstown Road was closed between West Clarkstown Road and Smith Road for several hours Wednesday night.
