New City Fire Department Working To Keep Town Safe After Storm

They are trying to bring generators to people on life support, and more

Along with the snow comes added work for the New City Fire Department

Assistant Chief James Avaras said the firefighters have been out on the roads since the snow started falling Saturday morning, and stayed out until about midnight. He said they started back Sunday morning at around 7:30 a.m.

The biggest issue they’ve seen is the down power lines, which Avaras said is obviously important not to touch. He also said they’ve seen a lot of down trees, and have been working to get generators to those who are on life support.

As of Sunday night, Avaras said there was still a lot to be done, but he had one immediate focus.

“I’m tired, we’ve been at this a long time,” he said. “I’m just trying to get to sleep soon so I can head out again in the morning.”

Agreed. A dollar amount was not placed. However, it IS a monthly stipend and in the paperwork, it is called a PENSION. And I am fully aware that the monies from the tax districts in both Fire and EMS are used for equipment, etc. However, the public is under the misconception that volunteers receive no financial reward whatsoever. That just simply is not the case.

EMS not Fire and what makes you think I am a "Buddy"?

figure of speech you would not understand. And why would you say "already done" when Anthony specifically referred to fire, not EMS. Only when I questioned the legitimacy of your statement do you say EMS. The fact is your kinda a scumbag for giving the impression that the compensation volunteers receive is even worth a fraction of what they do. You got me "Buddy"??
