A Nyack man has been charged by Clarkstown Police detectives with robbery in connection with the mugging of a woman outside a Nanuet supermarket.
Michael Turzio, 27, is accused of taking a 47-year-old woman's purse as she went to her car in the parking lot of the Stop and Shop store off Middletown Road on Jan. 26. The victim was not injured in the incident.
As police began the investigation, they found that surveillance video had captured images of the man involved with the mugging and the car he used to get away, a newer-model Ford.
After the attack, police said the victim's ATM car was used a short time later at a local bank.
Turzio is accused of third-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and petty larceny. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court and ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $5,000 bail pending a hearing on Monday.
