Police Investigating Death of Valley Cottage Woman

Peggy Nadell, 81, was a long-time member of the Rockland County Democratic Committee.

Clarkstown Police are investigating the death of 81-year-old Peggy Nadell at her home on Andover Road in Valley Cottage.

Nadell was found dead with a knife wound Saturday morning.

Nadell was a longtime member of the Rockland County Democratic Committee. Kristen Zebrowski Stavisky, Rockland County Democratic Chair, posted the following message Saturday.

"I was shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Peggy Nadell," Stavisky said. "Peggy was a long-time Democratic Committeewoman and I was proud to call her my friend. She cared deeply for her party and her community and worked tirelessly to promote democratic ideals, particularly on behalf of women and the environment. Peggy believed in giving back and she made this world a better place. On behalf of the Rockland Democratic Committee, I send thoughts and prayers to Peggy's daughter and the rest of the Nadell family. She will be greatly missed. May her memory be for a blessing."

According to this report, police have deemed the death "suspicious." They are asking anyone with information about Nadell's death to call 845-639-5800.

"her mother "fell" on a knife"???? news 12 said? Nadell's daughter Suzanne, of Airmont, was the one who called 911 and told dispatchers her mother fell on a knife.

It is easy enough to eliminate the daughter... she said she called numerous times with no answer... check the phone records..they will say where she was and how many times she called. when did she get to the house and how long before she called 911... phone location will tell you when and then how long she was there before calling. I hope she is innocent but logically just as if a wife is killed you have to eliminate the person closest first. then if there was a robbery, then possibly there is somewhere to go. but there hasnt been any mention of robbery
